The problem is that the only effective weapons against DD's firing from smoke are hydro acustic search (which is close range) and not available to none German BB's, radar which is not available for any BB, or torps which are also not available for any none German BBs. This will return smoke to more of a defensive tool or keep DD's further away from BBs so that the increased dispersion is worth the risk. One of the better recommendations that I've heard is that if a DD (or any other ship) decides to fire from or behind smoke it is then visible on the map but enemy ships cannot lock onto it, thus increasing their dispersion. The issue with firing from smoke is that DD's fire and stay concealed. No, the difference is that when a BB is using a DD to spot ships and the BB fires, the BB is spotted. Most battleships that sniper don't spot themselves but have a DD in fron of them which spots the ships. That's it for now! Edited Septemby Aduialĭon't forget the targets that get spotted at long range. Shooting in smoke is no different than shooting at targets spotted by radar, or friendlies. However, if there are no allied ships around, the DD will not be able to see its target anymore (contrary to popular belief).Īnother thing i should mention is, if people want to make destroyers unable to shoot at targets while in smoke, we should also make it so that we will only be able to fire at targets spotting directly by our own ship. This explains why DDs are able to shoot at enemies in smoke, because their allies are spotting for them. The spotting mechanics in the game currently allow you to see and shoot at enemy ships that have been spotted not only by you, but also your allies, their radar/hydro, and allied planes. So i thought i should just clear it up a bit. I've seen a lot of people complain about how destroyers are able to fire at enemies while being concealed in smoke, and how they shouldn't be able to, because they can't spot the enemy.
